When I'm Not Reading #4

I believe I made a post about this in the past. I write song lyrics from time to time. Well last night while listening to Taylor Swift's new album Reputation. There was this one song I kept replaying So It Goes... Also thinking about someone. I wrote a song... Here it is....

Talk To Me

I could honestly see myself with you
Forever embracing this new love
But it can't just be me reaching out to you

If you want a shot
On a love that will never break your heart
Talk to me

Open up your walls
I'll do the same for you
We can share our hopes, fears, dreams
Talk to me

Can't you see it in my eyes?
I'm falling for you
I hear your cries of loneliness
I could be your best friend for life

Talk to me
Talk to me
Open up your walls, baby
Love that will never break your heart (love that will never, never break your heart)

I will mend your bruised heart
Give you my unconditional love
A love that will be true

I could honestly see myself with you
I need for you to talk to me
Not just me building our love

A new beginning
Best friends for life
A love that will never break your heart

Just talk to me
I wanna know your hopes, fears, dreams
I wanna know your heart

I hope you like my song. I've been writing them since 2001 ish. I had to write a poem in my 8th grade in English class. And that is how it began. I discovered I could voice my thoughts through songs. I have more posted on fictionpress.com . I will try and share more whenever I write them. My inspiration isn't what it used to be.

Reading Goals and Blogging Plans for 2018

My Reading Goals For 2018

No Goodreads challenge.
I want to read whenever I feel like it. Without worrying about hitting a certain number of books before the year is over.
No TBR's
I never stick to them anyways. So why make them?

Read.... simple
Read whatever and whenever. Whether it is physical books. My kindle books. Library, Audio-books. YA,Adult, New Adult. Fiction, Nonfiction. Just read.

I'm not sure what 2018 will bring me. I hope to just enjoy reading and spending time with my family.

Blogging Plans for 2018

Try and post more book reviews. Maybe not for every book. Probably the ones I rated 4 or 5 stars. Unless there is a certain book you would like a review for. Besides blogging about reading and books. I want to share more of my life. I hope you all won't mind that. If you have any types of posts you would like to see please let me know. my email address is: booksarediamonds@yahoo.com

Here's to a good year. I am hoping for a calmer year.

Reading Challenge 2017

I did make a Goodreads Reading Challenge. My number was 20. I did change it to 100. I reached that goal. Right now I've read 107 books. I can't believe that number. I did read alot on my kindle. Which I really enjoyed. Other than that I didn't have any reading goals. I managed to finish 10 series in 2017.

The series I finished in 2017:

1. The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa
2. Fireside series by Stacey Lynn
3. Night Prince by Jeaniene Frost
4. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
5. King series by T.M. Frazier
6. To All The Boys I've Loved trilogy by Jenny Han
7. Embrace/The Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington
8. The Remnant Chronicles by Mary E. Pearson
9. The Outskirts Duet by T.M. Frazier
10. English dulogy by Ilsa Madden-Mills

All in all 2017 was a great reading year. I hope to do as well or maybe better in 2018. That post will be up soon.

I will be posting my December wrap up at the end of the month or beginning of January. I am currently reading a novella by Anita Louise called All I Want For Christmas Is You. I'm 28% done. Really enjoying it. Not sure what else I will try and read before the month and year is over. I do have some plans on the 31st.

Until my next post... Happy Reading, Ashley

A Chat Of Everything or Anything

I feel like chatting with you all. I don't really have any topics in mind. I still can't believe it is December. Anybody else feel this way? Where in the hell did 2017 go? The year started off rocky, and just got a little worse. Between losing 2 pets, some family members, and friends of the family. 2017 was one hell of a kick in the face. I hope 2018 is calmer waters. As far as my reading goals and plans for reading. I am not doing a Goodsread challenge for 2018. I have no idea what the year will be like. I am hoping to get employed. So that might take up a big part of my time.

I don't want to focus on the number of books I read. Instead just simply enjoy reading again. I felt the pressure to add to my Goodreads goal. A few years back I just read whenever I felt like it. I don't mind reading alot of books. But I just want to not worry if I'm behind on a goal. I am not posting any TBR's. I never NEVER stick to them. I will just pick up whatever catches my eyes from my own bookshelves, kindle, or library. Also will be reading whatever I want. Whether it will be YA or not. I felt like I was growing away from YA this year. Reading more adult books. I still like YA. But I don't want it to be the main genre I read anymore.
Definitely feeling my age.... I still cannot believe I'm 30 years old. CRAZY!!!! There are times I feel like I'm still the same me. And other times I'm like nope definitely older.

I know come late spring and some days in the summer months on Saturday nights I will be helping my brother when he races. I tell him where he starts. Thank goodness for phones with cameras!! I just take a picture of the line up and show him.

Right now I just help take care of the cleaning the home. Making sure the pets have what they need. Not good when you need money. I feel lost... like I messed up somewhere along the lines. I didn't go to college after high school when I graduated back in 2006. I did have a job for a few years. I was a substitute janitor for my old school district. Which I liked alot ,It was night shift. My hours because I am night owl. But I could never get full time. No matter how well I thought I was doing. I ended up quitting when my family and I moved out of the area. I don't have my drivers license because the idea of driving terrifies me. I had a friend get into a bad car accident and it just made my fear worse. I know I need to somehow overcome this fear. I wasted so much time. Time I'm never getting back. I'm not younger. Having people treat me unwell because in their eyes I'm a failure. I reflect the same thoughts.

Life is never what anyone tells you.....

I know I still got a whole month of reading to do. But I thought I'd share the Top 10 books of 2017 I loved.

1.A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas
How could I have a top 10 and not feature a Sarah book? This book....this series.....
2. King by T.M. Frazier
As I've stated in previous posts. I loved this series. I am so glad to have become a Frazier addict!! I've read all of her published works in 2017!!!
3. I Am Ozzy by Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Ayres
I am an Ozzy music fan. I loved the family tv show back in the early 2000s. This book was an interesting insight into his life. I highly recommend it to his fans. And because I named one of my black cats after him. I had to read this book.
4. Into The Fire by Jeaniene Frost
I am sad the Night Prince series is over. I started it last year and quickly fell in love with the series.
5. Where There's Smoke by Sandra Brown
My sister in law is why I like her books. This ending was WOW!!!
6. Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
Another mind f** book.
7. The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson
Another trilogy over
8. The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier

November Wrap Up 2017

November was an so so reading month for me. I did read 16 books. I have kindle unlimited until January 2018. I got a code to use.
I didn't finish the series I had wanted to when I posted my TBR for the month. But hey there's always next year.

Here's the books I read in November:

1. Fallen by Lauren Kate 3/5 stars (overdrive)
When I originally read this back in 2010. I loved this book. I was so happy to be rereading this book. Especially when I forgot everything that happened. However I didn't love it so much the second time around. Maybe being older now is a factor. Not sure if I will finish the Fallen series or not.
2. The Outliers by T.M. Frazier 5/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
I am so glad to have given Tracey a chance. I've loved every single one of her books that I've read this year. This is the sequel and conclusion to the Outliers dulogy. I will miss Finn and Sawyer.
3. Sweet Tooth: Lord of the Pies by R.M. Huffman 3/5 stars (kindle)
A short and quirky book about a vampire on Thanksgiving.
4. Filthy English by Ilsa Madden-Mills 4/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
5. Stealing Christmas by Alexa Riley 4/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
6. Snow and Mistletoe by Alexa Riley 4/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
7. Always On My Mind by Bella Andre 5/5 stars
My mom bought this book back in the summer time. It was a thrift store find. Bella never disappoints me. I loved this Sullivan love story.
8. When He Lusts: Boxset 1-5 by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
I reread the first book. I think I read it in 2016 maybe 2015.
9. When He Seduces by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
10. When He Possess by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
11. When He Provokes by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
12. When He Torments by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
13. When He Confesses by Alexa Brookes 3/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
14. Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano and Illustrated by Lee Harper 5/5 stars (kindle unlimited)
This was a cute story about a turkey trying not to become the main course on Thanksgiving day.
15. Non- Heir by Rachel E. Carter 5/5 stars (kindle)
This is the prequel to the first book First Year. It was interesting to see Darren's background before he goes to the Academy. I'm excited to continue on with the series.
16. First Year by Rachel E. Carter 5/5 stars (kindle)
This was a reread for me. I reviewed this when it was first released. I must have sped through it quickly. Rereading the second time through was amazing. I loved the story and the characters. I am super excited to continue with the series in December. I highly recommend this first book if you are a Sarah J. Maas fan or Tamora Pierce fan.

I cannot believe I read 16 books in one month. That is a wrap on November. What books did you read in November?

Happy Reading, Ashley!!!

 *
- Information and blurb from Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:
I picked up King for free on my kindle back in May on the recommendation from BookTubingAmy. I am so glad I picked it up. King is the first in a 8 book series. It follows a group of friends; King, Preppy, and Bear. Their troubles and good fortunes. King is told from his point of view and Doe the woman who changes King's way of life forever. I adored their scenes together. I highly recommend this series so much. Once I started this crazy ride I needed to read all of the books. You will too!!!!!

Giving this 5/5 stars isn't enough in my opinion. All of the stars in the whole damn sky!! If you love bad boys with good hearts. Strong female lead characters. Read this series ASAP!!!!

Happy Reading, Ashley

November TBR 2017

This is a tentative TBR. Since I never stick to TBR's. I read 14 books in October. I hope to read that many in November or more. The first weekend in November I'm helping my brother and his girlfriend move into their house. So I probably won't get much reading done Friday or Saturday. I will try to read before the football game on Sunday. My team is the Philadelphia Eagles. Other than the usual family gatherings for the Thanksgiving holiday. I don't have any other plans.

The books I'm hoping to read in November.....

- to finish either the Fallen series by Lauren Kate or The Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
-The Outliers by T.M. Frazier ( expected release date November 9th)

After Thanksgiving I will try to read as many Christmas themed books as possible.

I also want to read some romance books. Whatever catches my eyes.

Here's my TBR for November....

What are you planning on reading in November?

Happy Reading, Ashley

October Wrap Up 2017

October was a great reading month for me. I read 14 books!!! That's the most I've read in one month all year long. Most of them were on my kindle. A couple of short physical books. I'm happy with everything I've read. And how much I was able to get through. I did DNF There's Someone In Your House by Stephanie Perkins. I just couldn't get into it.

Here's the books I read in October:

1. The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson 5/5 stars
I'm sad to have finished the Remnant Chronicles.
2. Fliers: 20 Small Posters With Big Thoughts by Nathaniel Russell 5/5 stars
3. You Do Something To Me by Bella Andre 5/5 stars
4. Warcross by Marie Lu 5/5 stars
I need book 2 ASAP!!!
5. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling Raveclaw edition (reread) 5/5 stars

6. True Scary Stories;Volume: The Shadow Man by Dark Mistress Aurora 3/5 stars
It was free from Google Books
7.Forbidden Affair by Amy Andrews (reread) 5/5 stars
I read this back in 2014.
8. Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts 5/5 stars
I love Nora Roberts. It was great to read a paranormal mystery from her. I need to get books 2 and 3 soon.
9. Halloween Stories by Arnie Lighting 3/5 stars
10. I Could Pee On This: And Other Poems by Cats by Francesco Marciuliano 5/5 stars

A Simple Post

I finished reading Blood Brothers. Which I posted a review for. I haven't picked up a book since. I caught a cold. Not really feeling the urge to read right now. My family also added another kitty to the household. The number is 11 right now. Some may think it's crazy. But our house isn't a mess. And all of the cats are safe and loved.

I don't know if I will pick anything up before October is over. I want to read but nothing is really catching my eye. I am also debating about participating in NaNoWriMo this year. I didn't even attempt last year. I think I've come to the conclusion I like reading better than writing. I'm not the best story teller. To be honest writing stories aren't my strong suit. I can write song lyrics. Although those days are few in between anymore. I think with getting older my anger and pain I had as a teenager is gone. What did bother me then still does. I just don't channel it out into my songs anymore.

I'm good with just being a reader. A songwriter. Nothing wrong with that.

I hope to pick up another book soon. But I'm not going to push myself. New kitten. Cold.... not the best situation to read in.

Hope your October is going well. I'm not even excited for Halloween this year. It feels like someone stole my excitement for the holiday. I'm so beyond ready for 2017 to be over. This year was so difficult. Losing family members, furbabies and other crazy stuff.

Sorry for the odd blog. but I just needed to get my thoughts out.

Happy Reading, Ashley

Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts

Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts
Released: November 27th 2007 (first released January 1st, 2007)
Publisher: Jove Books
Series: Sign of Seven Trilogy
Page Amount: 314 Mass Market Paperback
Source: Own

"Every seven years, there comes a week in July when the locals do unspeakable things--and then don't seem to remember them. The collective madness has made itself known beyond the town borders and has given Hawkins Hollow the reputation of a village possessed. This modern-day legend draws reporter and author Quinn Black to Hawkins Hollow with the hope of making the eerie happening the subject of her new book. It is only February, but Caleb Hawkins, descendent of the town founders, has already seen and felt the stirrings of evil. Though he can never forget the beginning of the terror in the woods twenty-one years ago, the signs have never been this strong before. Cal will need the help of his best friends, Fox and Gage, but surprisingly he must rely on Quinn as well. She too, can see the evil that the locals cannot, somehow connecting her to the town--and to Cal. As winter turns to spring, Cal and Quinn will shed their inhibitions, surrendering to a growing desire. They will form the cornerstone of a group of men and women bound by fate, passion, and the fight against what is to come from out of the darkness..."
-Information from Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:
I was a bit nervous to pick this book up. I saw so many negative reviews on Goodreads. But I decide to give the book a chance. I'm glad I did. I loved every minute in Blood Brothers. Nora never disappoints me. It was great to see something different from her. I am going to be picking up books 2 and 3 soon.

I know this review is short and sweet. But I don't want to spoil the story for you all. If you like mysteries with a paranormal twist that has witches in it to. I highly recommend this book to you.

5/5 stars

Recently Read

A little wrap of what I've recently read over the past week.

My last post I said I was hoping to get through a review book You Do Something To Me by Bella Andre. I did read that book. My review is posted if you want more thoughts on the book. I also finished and loved Warcross by Marie Lu. I will posted a review soon. I also read a very short story on my phone called True Scary Stories: Volume: The Shadow Man by Dark Mistress Aurora. It was alright.... my heart did get a little racey. But then again I'm a wimp when it comes to scary stuff. So it doesn't take much.

I'm currently reading Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts the first book in her Sign of Seven Trilogy. I'm really loving it. I hope to finish it this week.

Probably won't get much reading done. My best friend in real life is getting married on Saturday and I'm her maid of honor. I'm super excited to be apart of her special day.

Let me know what you've recently read. Did you read anything of the books I mentioned in this post?

Currently Reading/Weekend Reading

I do have some plans for today with my family. But I am hoping to get some reading done as well. I have already finished my second book for the month of October. Technology I have read 3 books for October..... I will talk more about that in my wrap up.

I finished reading for review You Do Something To Me by Bella Andre. I needed a book like this at the moment. I loved it and I'm sad I finished it. I do have 2 books from her to read. Maybe I'll get to them this month... we'll see.....

Going to start Warcross by Marie Lu. I have read mixed things about this. Since I loved the Legend trilogy I'm going to give this shot.

What are you currently reading? Planning on reading for the weekend.... Let me know.

Happy Reading, Ashley

"Alec Sullivan has always believed he has it all. A billion-dollar private aviation business. A penthouse apartment in New York City. Beautiful women who know better than to expect him ever to fall in love. And great siblings for whom he’d do anything. But when Alec's business partner passes away and leaves everything to a daughter Alec never knew about, in an instant everything in his life turns upside down…all because of Cordelia.

Cordelia always thought she was perfectly happy with her life. She owns a garden store she loves, lives in a pretty little cottage in the same town as her adoptive parents, and figures there’s plenty of time to meet Mr. Right. But she never counted on becoming the surprise heir to a fortune…or on meeting a man like Alec Sullivan. A shockingly sexy billionaire who makes her heart race and melt all at the same time.

Neither Alec nor Cordelia plans on getting any closer than they have to. Only, how can either of them fight this kind of heat, this depth of desire? And when Cordelia needs Alec’s support, it’s pure instinct for him to be there for her. But when it’s her turn to help him confront his deepest pain, will Alec let her in? Or will he push her away, just as he’s pushed away everyone who's loved him for the past thirty years…  "

YOU DO SOMETHING TO ME is part of Bella Andre's New York Times and USA Today #1 bestselling series about The Sullivans. While it can easily be read as a stand-alone story, you'll likely enjoy reading the other books, too.

"Not since Nora Roberts has anyone been able to write a big family romance series with every book as good as the last. Bella Andre never disappoints." Revolving Bookcase Reviews

-Information from Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:
I've received this from the publisher exchange for an honest review. I have yet to read a Bella Andre novel where I don't fall in love with the characters and story. Each of her books brings me such happiness and You Do Something To Me is no different from the other books I've read by her. In You Do Something To Me. We are introduced to the oldest of the New York Sullivan clan Alec Sullivan. He has been in charge of taking of the family since he was five years old. After losing his mother to suicide and his father to the grief of losing his wife. For the reason alone Alec has decided not to become a helpless victim to love. But when his long time business partner and father figure Gordon has an unexpected heart attack.  He comes face to face with Gordon's secret daughter Cordelia. They quickly become friends. And start bonding over the loss of Gordon. Slowly they each open up to one another. Will Alec over come his resistance to love? You should pick this up to find out.

I loved watching Alec and Cordelia's interactions in this story. I adore the Sullivan family so much. And always happy to read another story about them. I needed a pick me up and You Do Something To Me was that.

I cannot wait for more from this family and Bella Andre. If you haven't picked up one of her novels yet you seriously need to ASAP!!!!

Fliers: 20 Small Posters With Big Thoughts by Nathaniel Russell

Fliers: 20 Small Posters With Big Thoughts by Nathaniel Russell

Released: October 3rd 2017
Publisher:Clarkson Potter an imprint of Penguin Random House LLC
Page Amount: 21 pages USA paperback
Source: Blogging For Books

"The perfect present for bros and dormroom inhabitors, this collection of viral fake fliers is at once strange, thought-provoking, and hilarious. Printed on heavy, cardstock-like paper, these 20 "fake" fliers both celebrate and embody surreal posters--like the kind plastered all over college campuses, only taken to the next level. As a bonus feature, the sturdy paperback comes with a french-fold jacket that, when removed, opens up to reveal a larger poster. Images include a duck posting about the pet dog he found and an anonymous group posting about a quiet universe. There is something in this collection for everyone who ever looked at a postered telephone pole or coffee house bulletin board and wondered "is there more out there?"
- Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:
I loved this odd book with some very cool posters. I think this would be a great addition to your bookshelves if you love silly and funny books. The cover for the paperback can come off and is a poster of a big tree with just a glimpse of a house. I was excited to request this from Blogging For Books. My favorite poster is the cat with bright eyes. Being a big cat lover and all.

I needed a book like this to cheer me up. So whenever I feel down in the dumps I will look through this corky book from time to time.

-Goodreads.com

My Thoughts:
This is my second Colleen Hoover novel. Owen ands Auburn I fell in love with them. I was rooting for them. Flinching during some tough scenes. But all in all I adored Confess. The painting are a lovely addition to the story.I really need to get a physical copy to look at the paintings in person.

I Confess you should definitely read this amazing, heart breaking, have you on the edge of your seat New Adult novel.

Excited for November 9, the sequel (?).

5/5 stars, Happy Reading, Ashley.

My Thoughts:
It was great to get the back story of Celaena before Throne of Glass. How those events shaped her into the person we meet. I loved Sam Cortland. And I hate how betrayed them. Seriously didn't see that coming.

Sarah did it again. Her writing is beautiful and enchants you from beginning to end. I believe this is a must in order to fully understand why Celaena acts the way she does.

I'd give this all the stars if I could. 5/5 stars!!! Happy Reading, Ashley.

Currently Reading

I'm reading two ebooks at the moment. One on my kindle and one on my phone because of Google Books on my smartphone.

Kindle book: The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson the final book in the Remnant Chronicles.
Google book: The Book of Halloween by Ruth Kelley

Hoping to finish these both up over the weekend. Or atleast the first week of October.

What are you currently reading?

October TBR 2017

I love OCTOBER!!!!!!! The month I live for!! I love Halloween!! It has always been my favorite holiday. Even when I was a kid. I get sad when it is November 1st. Even though some of my family members make fun of me for not liking scary movies. I think you can still love Halloween without some of the spookiness.

My hopes for reading October. Is to read alot. I do have one weekend where I won't be focused on reading. My best friend is getting married. I'm the maid of honor.

Misty over at The Book Rat is doing the 30daybookbinge again. I am totally in. I know I should list the books I want to read. But we all know I never really stick to it. Instead of saying these are the books I want to read. I'm just going to go with the flow. I do want to read Halloween like books.

What are your reading plans for October? Will you be reading scary books? Or are you like me and keep it tame... I can read R.L. Stine. So yeah....

September Wrap Up 2017

Is it just me or is 2017 flying by way too fast? I feel like it was just the beginning of September and it will be over on Saturday. I know I'm posting this early. But I don't see myself finishing a 600 something page book before the month is over. I 'm a slow read at times. September wasn't a busy month for me. My brother had one race left for the season and then we were done for this racing season. He finished 7th in points!! Also visited a big fair that happens every year here. I scored a big bag of candy for 28.00. It is one of those stands you can choose what candy you want.

Anyways here is all the books I read in September.

1. Color Squared by Lee Meredith 4/5 books
I received this from Blogging For Books exchange for an honest review. This is an interesting coloring book. I liked the images and the ideas the author gives you.
2. Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington 4/5 stars
I struggled with this book. I honestly just wanted to give up on finishing the series.
3. Endless by Jessica Shirvington 5/5 stars
This was a lot better for me then book 4.
4. The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier
I am in love with anything Tracey writes. So when she released this gem, I needed to read it. Luckily I can person in the Frazierland group gifted it to me. To help deal with the scary hurricane weather going on. I loved this book. and the cliffhanger at the end. Grr..... good thing book 2 is going to be out November 1st.
5.Empower by Jessica Shirvington 5/5 stars
This was a crazy ride from start to finish. I am so happy to have completed this series.
6. Sweet Tooth by R.M. Huffman 3/5 stars
A short story about a vampire going trick or treating at a hospital on Halloween night. I loved it.
7. Dirty Little Secret by Kendall Ryan 5/5 stars
I received this from NetGalley exchange for an honest review. This one gave me some 50 shades vibes. I enjoyed reading about Emma and Gavin. Eagerly awaiting for more in this series. This was my first time reading anything by Kendall. I hope to read a few more of her books before 2017 is over.

That's a wrap on September. I read everything on my kindle minus the coloring book. I go through phases of loving read on my kindle. It is so helpful at night. Especially with having Oliver in  my room still.

What all did you read in September? Did you read any of the books I talked about in this post? Let me know in the comments or email at booksarediamonds@yahoo.com

Would love some feedback.

Weekend Reading/Currently Reading

This post is me just updating you all on what I'm reading for the weekend/currently reading. I started Empower by Jessica Shirvington. The final book in the Embrace/The Violet Eden Chapters series. I'm 22% into the book. It picks up 2 years after the events in Endless. I'm looking forward to finish this book and the series. I still have to read the three review books I need to read for this month. But so far I've read the books I wanted to get read. Minus one book that I got to read unexpectedly. The Outskirts by T.M. Frazier. I read her King series a couple months back. I fell in love with her writing.

That is my weekend reading and currently reading for now. What are you all reading for the weekend? Are you tackling your TBR's for the month?

Let me know down in the comments. Would love to read some comments.

September TBR 2017

I normally do not make TBR's. For the reason is that I never follow through with them. But since we only have 4 months left of 2017. I do want to make sure I read the books I want to read before the year is over. So I think starting this month and into October. I will be reading some spooky books. Since you know Halloween is 60 days away. Best get to started on some book Halloween-ish books.

I want to finish some series during the next 4 months as well. I am bad at finishing series I previously started. Anyone else have that same problem?

Without further ado here is the books I'm hoping to read in September:

I know I said I'd wait to finish this series but I'm going full steam ahead to get it done.

Emblaze by Jessica Shirvington
Endless by Jessica Shirvington
Empower by Jessica Shirvington

Review Books:
Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown ( was supposed to read this back in July oopies)
The Marriage Pact by Michelle Richmond ( another book I should've read in July)
Dirty Little Secret by Kendall Ryan (expected release date 9/14/2017)

I will add more books as the month goes. But these are the books I'm going to focus on the first 2 weeks of September.

August Wrap Up 2017

August was my worst reading month so far in 2017. I only managed to read 5 books. I feel so disappointed in myself. I had every intention of getting alot read. But nope, that didn't happen. But hey not every month will be getting 10 or more books read. Life gets in the way as it does. Just going to hit the reset button for September.

Here is the books I read in August:

1. On The Fence by Kasie West
I borrowed this from the library. I heard alot about Kasie's books from Booktube.
I enjoyed this fun, but at times serious book. I rated it 4/5 stars
2. Through the Woods by Emily Carroll
A graphic novel. Borrowed this from the library as well. It was an interesting graphic novel. 4/5 stars
3.Surviving Death: Evidence of the Afterlife by Leslie Kean
A nonfiction book about past lives. And how some people can recall who they were in past lives. I've always been interested in this subject matter. 4/5 stars
4. Embrace by Jessica Shirvington
A reread for me. I first read this book back in 2012. 5/5 stars
5. Entice by Jessica Shirvington
This is the sequel to Embrace. I wasn't as hooked with this one as book one.
4/5 stars

That is a wrap on August!
What books did you read in August? Read any of the books I mention in my wrap up

Bout of Books 20 Wrap Up

I had good intentions of getting some serious reading done during the Bout of Books 20. However life had other plans. On Sunday August 20th, my mom found a cat who had been thrown out a car window right in front of my mother's car. I've been taking care of him. He was unwell the first few days. He is doing good. He is in heat, meowing all the time....I mean all the freaking time. But he will be getting fixed in 7 days as of today!!!! Then it will be introducing him to his other siblings and the dog.

So needless to say I didn't succeed in my TBR for Bout of Books 20. I still do want to finish The Violet Eden Chapters series. I am almost finished with book 2 Entice. I might take a short break and read some other books and then go full steam ahead with books 3,4 and 5.

I hope September will be a less crazy month in my personal life. And that I can get some good amount of reading done. I'm currently thinking of maybe doing NaNoWriMo this year. I can write songs. Stories are my trouble area. I really want to write a story and turn into a novel. That would be awesome. But I don't think it's in the cards for me. But right now I'm just thinking of maybe doing NaNoWriMo. We will see.

On Saturday August 26th my brother race the final points race at the Selinsgrove Speedway. He might be up for Rookie Of The Year. I hope he gets it. He puts his heart and soul into racing.

How did you during the Bout of Books 20? If you participated in the readathon.

When I'm Not Reading # 3

When I'm Not Reading # 3
A look into what I do when I'm not reading.

I wanted to share with you all what my family and I do on the weekends. As I've mentioned in my Back Again post. My brother races at a local dirt track, Selinsgrove Speedway. I wanted to share some pictures of his car and my family at the track. It is scary seeing him out there racing with the other cars. I know it is something he's always wanted to do. He is getting better with each race. He started late last year 2016. He's been in 3 wrecks. He was okay, the car needed some work done to it.

If you've ever gone to a race you know it is crazy. The excitement from seeing the cars on the track. Hoping the guy you are cheering on can win. It feels different when it is someone you know. A family member. Every time my brother is out there I say a little prayer for him to be safe. I also think back to when we were kids and he was obsessed with playing this Nascar computer game that can with a steering wheel. He'd play that game for hours.

This is from when he first started last year. Duck tape number and letter. The trailer you see behind it was borrowed from a friend of his.

From May 20th 2017

The painting on the car was done by a family friend.

This was last year. Waiting for him to go out onto the track. In the photo is my brother, sister in law, and Dad.

This was from last Saturday watching the late models.

Hope you enjoyed insight into what do besides reading.
