What I've Been Doing

So I know its been a while since I've posted a book review. I was reading Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr. I couldn't get into this book. I had to force myself just to pick it up and read it. I gave up on it. I was almost done with it. I learned that Melissa Marr's Wicked Lovely Series is not for me. Maybe from reading all the vampires novels I'm more in love with that. I do like romance novels as well. I own most of Nicholas Sparks' novels. Also I love to read about the past.

That's all for now. I will be posting a review for Burned by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast as soon as I finish it.

Happy Reading, Ashley

When I'm Not Reading (2)

When I'm Not Reading is a weekly meme hosted by The Unread Reader. Allows us bloggers to share what we're are doing when not consuming ourselves with our books.

This week I thought I'd share my songwriting ability. I've been writing songs since 2001. I've roughly have written over 500 songs since then. I only write the lyrics, sadly I don't know how to put it to actual music. For me writing these songs are my way of getting things off my chest or just speaking on subjects I wouldn't say to someone.

But here are a few songs I've written enjoy!!

Dear My Love

Dear My Love
I'm letting go
Of everything
I've felt for you

Going to find
Someone I can have
Not dream about you anymore
You'll never be mine

Dear My Love
I'm letting go
Of everything
I've felt for you

I realized
You're not the one
What I felt was admiration (not love)
I will shed a tear for all my time wasted on you

Dear My Love
I'm letting go
Of everything
I've felt for you

Even though you
Never knew of my love
Kept hidden in my eyes
Its time to let it die

Going to find
Someone I can have
Not dream of you anymore
You'll never be mine

I'll just say this
She best hold on tight to you
Cause you deserve the best
No heartache

I will shed a tear
For all my time wasted on you
Dear My Love
I'm letting go of you and me!

Death In Front Of My Eyes

Here it is again
Death in front of my eyes
But this time
My heart isn't aching

Why is that?
After all you're apart of me
Yet  Ican't seem to cry
Feel so guilty for this

But years have gone by
Since the last time I saw you
So am I to grieve your loss?
Somebody come help me out

Here it is again
Death in front of my eyes
Yet this time
My heart isn't aching

How am I to feel?
Never was close to you
And I just feel so numb
Somebody please help me

There should be years
All I feel is confusion
Nor sure where to turn need someone

Here it is again
Death in front of my eyes
All my heart can feel is numbness

I'm so sorry
That I can't grieve for you
Pleae forgive me

No Longer Will I (Gizmo)

I miss you dear friend
You were always here to comfort me
In sadness,happiness, and in anger
Now I have to say goodbye

Not sure I'm strong enough
To endure the loss of you
For seeing your sweet face
Always made my days better

No Longer Will I
Have you greeting me at the door
No Longer Will I
Have you laying on my bed
No Longer Will I
Hear you purr

My baby
I loved you with all of my heart and soul
I pray that you are no longer in pain
Know this you will always have a place in our hearts

Not sure I'm strong enough
To endure the loss of you
For seeing you're sweet face
Always made my days better

No Longer Will I
Have you greeting me at the door
No Longer Will I
Have you laying on my bed
No Longer Will I
Hear you purr

I miss you dear friend
I'm so glad to have had you in my life
Go on now move on to a better place
Where you wont be in pain anymore

Gizmo,
my hunny bunny
You'll always be in my heart and soul.

*Note this song is about my beloved cat Gizmo, whom I lost in January of this year.*

Hope you enjoyed, sorry I was late posting this!,Ashley

Wicked Lovely Review

Wicked Lovely By Melissa Marr

Released: May 31st 2007
Published By: HaperTeen
Series:  Wicked Lovely,1
Page Amount: 328

"Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty-especially if they learn of her Sight-and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don't speak to invisible faeries.

Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don't ever attract their attention.

But it's too late. Keenan is the Summer King, who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. His is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost-regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; everything.

Faery intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in Melissa Marr's stunning twenty-first-century faery tale"
Informtaion from GoodReads.com

I first tried reading Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr, at the beginning of my book challenge and just didn't get into it. Wasn't until hearing a fellow book blogger talking on how wonderful Wicked Lovely is did I decide to pick it up again. I'm so glad I did. This is my first novel on faeries,or the fey as their called.

I truly loved learning about the fey world. I kinda knew where the book was going to end and I was right. Which I'm shocked about cause I've never guess an ending before. However I still am going to read the rest of the series!!

This is second in the Immortal series by Alyson Noel. She does try and go back to save her family but things don't go how she thought they would. So she returns to the present and tries to save Damen.

Again I loved all the characters in book. Alyson Noel did a very well job with Blue Moon.

Evermore Review

Evermore by Alyson Noel
Released: February 2009
Published: St. Martin's Griffin
Series:  The Immortals, 1
Page Amount: 356

"After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year old Ever Bloom can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school- but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.

Damen is gorgeous, exotic, and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head- wielding a magic so intense, its as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is- or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him."
Information from the back of the book.

There has been mixed reviews on Alyson Noel's Evermore. But for me personnally I loved it. It may seem a bit like Twilight and some other supernatural Young Adult Fiction out there. I still enjoyed it, I found myself  loving Ever and wanting to protect her from Drina. I'm so Team Damen!! I liked how Alyson included their past lives and where they were when they met.

Overall I think if you're looking for a romance with a supernatural twist. You should definitely picked up Evermore by Alyson Noel!

Struggling to cope with her new powers. Celia reaches out for help from her once (and future?) lover, a powerful mage; his warrior-preist brother; a handsome
werewolf who keeps his lupine nature concealed from the world; an elderly clairvoyant; and one trustworthy cop.
Celia Graves has three days to save the world, her sanity, and her soul.
Information from the back of the book.

Before I begin my review note I won this book from GoodReads First Reads.

Blood Song by Cat Adams for me was a bit hard to get into at first. But once I got hooked I needed to know what happened to Celia. Although I don't think this was a very unique take on the supernatural world. I did find it to be good none the less.

Adams created a good story that has within it great characters. I loved Celia, how strong she remained through the story.I could picture all the characters in real-life.

The plot of Blood Song was interesting. The main character Celia life changes in one night. She is challenged to either let what happened to her kill her or fight for her life. And fighting is what she does. It is something she seems to do. Along the way she reunites with an ex who helps her in saving her life. Like I said I loved Celia and the other characters in this book.

This book ending on a good note but left you questioning what is going to happen in the second one. Where Celia is heading now?

All in all: The characters and story is what make this book a must read for all you supernatural, fantasy romance fans out there. It will be the cure for longing for a book packed with action and romance. You will not regret reading and purchasing Blood Song by Cat Adams.
